WARNING: The bus trip described below has been cancelled due to an insufficient number of participants.

The ECIR-03 secretariat has organized a bus trip to the Tuscan hills for Sunday, April 13th (the day immediately before the conference begins), for ECIR-03 participants and their accompanying persons. This is especially interesting for those of you who are flying into Pisa on Saturday.

The highlights of the trip are:

  • A visit to the town of Siena (http://www.comune.siena.it/turismo). Siena is possibly the most fascinating town in Tuscany, a mystic, gentle city of art and architecture, and definitely one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Italy.
  • A visit to the Castle of Meleto (http://www.castellomeleto.it) and its wine cellars. Meleto is a very well-preserved medieval castle, located in the Chianti hills at the center of an estate of 180 hectares of vineyards, where wines among the best of Tuscany are produced. The visit will include a visit to the majestic Castello di Meleto cellars, where a light afternoon lunch with a wine-tasting session of their best wines will be offered.

The cost of the trip is 45 Euro per person, and includes transportation by bus with an English-speaking guide, visit to the town of Siena with an English-speaking guide of the municipality of Siena, visit to the Castle of Meleto with a local guide, and the afternoon lunch + wine tasting.

Participants wishing to enrol in the bus trip should fill out this form and fax it to the ECIR-03 secretariat at the number +39.050.3153464. The trip will take place only if a minimum of 25 people have registered by Friday, April 5. After this date it will be possible to register for the trip only up to the completion of the buses that have been formed with the people already registered.
